RESOURCE GUIDE / INSPECTION
Do you need mold testing before remediation?
Not every mold concern benefits from sampling. The first question is what the test would help you decide.

Visible growth may already answer the question
EPA says sampling is usually unnecessary when visible growth is present. An assessment of the affected material and moisture source may be enough to plan appropriate cleanup.
Identify a specific requirement
A transaction, investigation, or independent verification protocol may call for sampling. Ask who requires it, what type of information is needed, and who will interpret the result. Testing should not be sold as a universal certificate of safety.
Confirm scope and cost
Know the sample count, analysis, report, expected timing, and fees before scheduling. A free inspection is not free laboratory analysis. If you need an independent evaluator, discuss that separation before commissioning remediation.
