Crawl-space mold: prepare for an assessment
Access beneath a building can be limited, and entering without understanding the hazards is not a useful first step. Prepare information from what is already safely known.

Describe access honestly
Identify the opening, whether the space is interior or exterior access, and any known standing water or utility concerns. Earlier inspection photographs can help. Do not enter to estimate dimensions if doing so is unsafe.
Share the water history
Mention plumbing leaks, drainage work, prior insulation removal, and any recurring odor in rooms above. The condition of framing, subflooring, and insulation can affect the scope.
Coordinate cleanup and moisture control
Ground moisture management, drainage, plumbing, and remediation are separate tasks. Ask who is handling each and in what order. Confirm access protection and how removed materials will leave the property.
